BEHIND THE NAME
Tamar Khelashvili is an art manager and a founder of the international art platform 'Collect Art.' After spending nine years at Nata Buachidze's Studio, she decided to fully immerse herself in the cultural field. In 2019, during the pandemic, Tamar responded to the pleas of Georgian contemporary artists and swiftly created an online platform. On January 1st, 2020, the platform went live. Initially, the goal was to assist local artists during the pandemic, but it quickly evolved into an international space. Over the past three years, Collect Art has effectively connected more than 1000 artists from 96 countries around the world, building bridges across diverse artistic communities.
In 2021, Tamar expanded her reach by venturing into the realm of publishing. She began releasing art magazines and books that featured the works of international artists, alongside researched-based texts and literature. This endeavor served as a platform to showcase artists' immense talent and creative expression worldwide.
Tamar's outstanding contributions to the art world were recognized the following year when she was selected as one of the 100 young art professionals from Europe.
In addition to her role at Collect Art, Tamar manages Nata Buachidze's Studio and teaches Art management, dedicating herself to art education and serving as a private art manager for notable Georgian contemporary artists. In 2023 Tamar founded Tbilisi Art Biennale, the first independent Art Biennale in Georgia.
